The “book” on the net

I spent most of last week in Mexico City, luxuriating in Pedro Meyer and Nadia Baram’s hospitality and listening to my partner, Bob Stein, speechify about the networked book.  He founded the Institute for the Future of the Book, upon one of whose experiments this blog was originally modeled, and defines "book" as the thing we use to move big ideas around.

Introducing my new blog on eldr.com

A little while ago, Eldr, a national magazine aimed at people over 60, invited me to post some of my stories on their website. I’m delighted to announce that the blog, Portraits of Older Workers, went live on October 30th.  You can link to it directly, or off the blogroll on Eldr.com’s front page, where I’ve got lots of interesting company.

Crowd sourcing helps a journalist tackle a big story

Joshua Micah Marshall made news in the blogosphere today. The founder of the popular political blog Talking Points Memo, he won a George Polk Award for legal reporting on the firing of eight United States attorneys— reporting that led to the resignation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.” Talking Points Memo is the first Internet-only news operation to receive the Polk, but to me that’s not the big news.
